THE SEARCH:

An eminent emerging markets Private Equity fund has exclusively mandated Altus Partners with building their investment team. As growth investors they target established businesses in Africa, which are commercially positioned for high growth and impact. As a part of an esteemed team, you will work on live and opportunistic investment opportunities across sectors, in one of the most competitive markets across the globe.

 

THE ROLE:

Due to the developing Investment team, the fund seeks to hire an Investment Associate. Given the nature of the role, you will have direct experience from an Investment Bank (M&A). Your primary role will be to support the structuring and execution elements of the deal. Additional contributions will include contribution towards origination efforts (undertaken by the more experienced deal team) as well as portfolio monitoring. This role will afford you the following responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive research, for ongoing and potential investment opportunities, and to monitor portfolio companies

  • Market and financial analysis in support of the due diligence phase

  • Valuation and complex financial modelling

  • Creating detailed investment proposals which entail credible and evidenced information against prospective investment opportunities

  • Portfolio monitoring which entails financial analysis, periodic reporting, and suggesting financial advice to ensure optimal portfolio performance

  • Other deal support responsibilities where you will help source and screen investment opportunities

 

THE REQUIREMENTS:
  • 2-3 years’ IBD (M&A) experience, non-negotiable

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Private Equity and appetite for investing in Africa

  • Proven experience in building LBO models, from scratch

  • Strong financial and strategic analysis

  • Articulate professional with commendable writing and reporting skills

  • Commercial astuteness and developed numerical reasoning

  • Due to the geographic coverage of the role, proficiency in French and/ Arabic is highly advantageous

  • Team oriented with the ability to work autonomously
