THE SEARCH:

Altus Partners are exclusively working with an independently owned asset manager based in London. The suitable candidate will look at fund investing across the lower mid-market, mid-market and venture capital space, conducting manager research as well as assessing co-investment opportunities.

 

THE ROLE:

The role will include private markets manager research (including private equity, venture capital, and value-add real assets) and vetting a wide and varied range of co-investment deal flow. In addition, the role will involve providing support to the portfolio managers that invest in private assets and other members of the team. The new team member will be able to make the role their own and become involved with other areas of our team too, depending on their interests and experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Nurturing existing client relationships and fostering new ones

  • Keeping track of deal flow and oversee the initial screening of deals, spending more time on those that are interesting through understanding the sector and company/asset in question. Debate your findings with managers and internally to progress an opportunity through to investment

  • Creating reports for the Investment Committee and sharing your thoughts

  • Assisting with the structuring of investments, working with internal teams and lawyers

  • Assisting with furthering our investment content and thought leadership across alternatives, ESG integration and portfolio management

  •  Occasionally develop and produce client presentations and pitches

  •  Using and developing modelling tools to assess managers, deals and portfolios

 

THE REQUIREMENTS:
  • A proactive and creative self-starter with 2-8 years of relevant investment experience within the private markets and/or co-investing

  • Someone willing to be innovative for clients and challenge the status quo

  • Analysis/Modelling – the process requires the analysis of numeric and written data to come up with investment recommendations, assessing financial and non-financial risks

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Client-led and research-driven culture requiring someone that can work with all members of our team and the wider business

  • Sustainable investing and integrating ESG. The ideal candidate will share this passion and have some experience of assessing ESG risks and opportunities

  • Desirable but not required: knowledge of other alternative asset classes, UK DC pensions, and/or the wealth manager market
