THE SEARCH: 

Altus Partners are delighted to be partnering with a Large-Cap Private Equity Fund in their search for a new CFO Operating Partner. They require a director to the office of the CFO to both maximise growth in their portfolio companies, as well as the return for investors through a continuous drive for higher business performance across their portfolio. Based in London, the CFO Operating Partner will work with the CEOs and CFOs of both current and new portfolio companies to assess their finance functions effectiveness and, where applicable, deliver finance transformation and be a catalyst for continuous improvement. 
 

THE ROLE: 

  • Act as mentor to CFOs, responsibilities include but are not limited to:  assisting to develop and provide regular and insightful management accounts; forecasting; analysis and commentary to the Board and Investors; highlighting business performance; improving finance reporting processes, systems and controls across the organisation; and optimising transactional finance and effective governance. 

  • Work with portfolio CEOs in improving cost base management, cashflow forecasting, debt management, and where applicable, assist in the development and management of strategic plans. 

  • Work with investment professionals across the Fund in strengthening proprietary deal flow by supporting pre-deal activity, including due diligence and investment appraisals of finance functions. 

  • Work with portfolio management teams across the Fund to provide M&A transaction support, including post-merger integration as well as exit preparedness, including any IPO possibilities. 

  • Harbour an environment of strong financial control and balance sheet integrity that is underpinned by reliable financial processes and governance across all portfolio companies. 

  


THE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • CFO with experience operating at Board level. 

  • Solid technical and analytical abilities with a ‘hands-on’ approach to financial management. Must have prior experience in demanding finance leadership roles and value creation methodologies, ideally with international exposure. 

  • Exceptional communication and conceptual skills, including stakeholder management and influencing, and an ability to interact and build effective relationships at all levels within the organisation as well as with external parties, portfolio managers and investors. 

  • Experience and proven ability in being able to quickly understand different business operations and sectors. Ideally with experience working within private equity-backed organisations. 

  • Passionate, positive, and energised by working across a number of businesses and on a diverse range of projects in a fast-paced, ambitious and entrepreneurial environment. 

  • Motivated and decisive individual with an inquisitive mind and an assured approach to financial management.
