​THE SEARCH:

Altus Partners is being retained to work with an award-winning, independent manager that invests in sustainable infrastructure. They are recognised as a pioneer in responsible investing, winning multiple ESG awards and attaining an A+ rating from the United Nations PRI. They are raising for their third infrastructure fund, and are looking for a Director to join their team to originate/execute investment opportunities across Europe, focusing on sustainable infrastructure. The fund is headquartered in Spain and whilst they are happy for this individual to be based anywhere in Europe, this role would require some travel to their Barcelona offices (ideally 2 days per week).

 

THE ROLE:

The role is for an Investment Director, and you will be responsible for driving idea generation, contributing to the outreach strategy, sourcing deals, and leading workstreams, with a sector focus on energy transition (renewable generation, smart mobility, energy efficiency) and the circular economy (waste to energy, waste to resource, water cycle). You will be specifically in charge of the origination and execution of their international investments, in Europe in particular, actively contributing to the origination of international opportunities with the rest of the team, and ensuring the quality and profitability of the portfolio.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Originating investment opportunities across Europe

  • Screening of investment opportunities through qualitative research, financial modelling of projected revenues and credit risk analysis

  • Lead on the execution of investments and supervise the due diligence work relating to them

  • Confident in building/assessing financial models to accurately value investment opportunities

  • Preparing investment papers putting forward key risks, mitigations and investment recommendations

  • Negotiating legal documentation for investments, taking responsibility for making commercial decisions

  • Liaising with internal and external advisers and intermediaries on investments, keeping deals moving and driving through to completion

THE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Proven track record (8 years+ experience) of making quality infrastructure investments across Europe, ideally gained with an internationally focused investment bank, investment fund or Corporate M&A.

  • Excellent knowledge of the energy market and a passion for sustainable infrastructure

  • Ability to understand the key commercial aspects of energy projects as well as be able to articulate key commercial, technical and legal risks for projects and their potential impact on investor returns

  • Strong origination network across Europe

  • Capacity to travel to their Barcelona offices 2 days per week

  • Fluent in English, ideally Spanish and additional European languages are preferred

  • Highly numerate and a strong educational background
