THE SEARCH:
An eminent Private Equity fund has retained Altus Partners with the growth of their ESG and Sustainability practice. Over the years, the fund has delivered across selected sectors to develop and secure an unrivalled investing position. Working in close partnership with the entire group and portfolio companies, you will serve an integral role in enhancing and directing the ESG and Sustainability journey.
THE ROLE:
In collaboration with the firm’s objectives, you will serve an important role in designing and executing a refined ESG strategy. Given the role’s foundation you will work alongside the investment team and assume a leadership function in directing the sustainability agenda across the firm and portfolio companies. As an ongoing part of your role, you will capitalize on every opportunity to ensure that ESG matters are comprehensively and proactively addressed.
Primary responsibilities:
Enhancing and ongoing refinement of the ESG framework, in line with industry guidelines, to the benefit of the firm and portfolio companies
Serve as key educator to the broader ESG practice, where ESG due diligence of investment opportunities are concerned
Addressing corporate net zero commitments through developing carbon credit and carbon- offset strategies to address carbon emissions
Provision of strategic guidance to the firm (and portfolio companies) across corporate climate action, including decarbonisation strategies and roadmaps; and carbon accounting
Ongoing assessment and impact analysis of International ESG and Sustainable policies, regulations, and best practices related to corporate decarbonisation strategies, renewable energy, and carbon markets
Supporting the investment practice in the origination, and advisory, of renewables and carbon credits
Portfolio engagement:
Identify opportunities to create decarbonization opportunities across commercial strategy, operational development, certification and validation processes
Design and guide the activity roadmap for portfolio companies, ensuring respective policies and processes meet required responsible investing standards
Companywide contributions:
Contribution towards credible and topical external market material, specific to the firm’s ESG position and strides
Guiding ESG content for respective firm initiatives as well as ESG reporting
Representative of firm, along with other Executives, amongst the wider ESG society and an active delegate at respective events
THE REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated leadership experience within ESG and/ or Sustainability teams of an established MNC
Evidence-based practice of corporate climate agendas and experience in Carbon Markets
Excellent knowledge of reporting standards and frameworks, including GRI, CDP, SASB, TCFD
Strong comprehension of carbon reporting systems and standards such as GHG protocol, SBTi, CDP, RE100
Recognized network amongst key ESG and Sustainability industry experts, including carbon market representatives and rating agencies
Sound commercial acumen and business judgement, strong enough to enable effective investment decisions
Due to the technical depth of this role and the evolving landscape of ESG and Sustainability you ought to have a forward thinking approach and be solution oriented
Team oriented, resilient, and encouraging in how you guide the significance of ESG and Sustainability in Private Markets
Proficiency in French will be an advantage
The nature of the role requires travel, which should be a manageable option for you
