Altus Partners has been retained by one of Portugal’s most eminent Private Equity firms. As an established Private Equity fund and Investment Manager they directly invest across the Iberian market, with a varied interest in sectors. They adopt a mature and long-term approach to investing which includes active participation across investments and commitment towards ESG responsible investing. They strategically target sizeable equity deals, at a minimum of 10m. As a well-networked and seasoned professional, you will support the strategic direction of the fund which seeks to capitalize on origination efforts through your robust corporate networks across the broader Portugal market, and some of Spain.

 

THE ROLE:

In support of the strategic objective of the firm they are looking to hire an Investment Manager who will largely concentrate on the sourcing of proprietary investment opportunities in Portugal and Spain. This position will allow you the opportunity to leverage off your already established corporate network, as you drive new business development. You will periodically support the investment team, through commercially backing the opportunities presented to the investment committee. The longstanding members of the investment practice will collaborate with you as undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Sourcing of proprietary investment opportunities, focusing on the lower mid-market, primarily in Portugal, with a secondary focus on Spain

  • Mapping of key sectors and players

  • Building and managing a network at the C-suite level of targeted firms

  • Managing internal stakeholder relationships across the Investments team

  • This role requires availability for frequent traveling and visits to targets’ location in Portugal and Spain

 

THE REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least 10 years of professional experience with demonstrated practice in deal sourcing / origination (within a Corporate Finance/ M&A focused role)

  • Proven capability in building long-term professional relationships with entrepreneurs based on trust and integrity

  • An established corporate network in Portugal, with some networks in Spain

  • Based on the linguistic requirements of the role, either native or full proficiency (spoken and written) in Portuguese is required. Proficiency in Spanish highly valued

  • Background from either a Corporate Finance house/ M&A boutique/ Investment Bank (front office)/ Private Equity is sought after

  • Client centric approach with strong propensity for the acquisition of commercially viable deals

  • Autonomous working style with the appreciation of working in a team

  • Influential communicator with the ability to sustain a credible market position
