THE SEARCH:

Altus Partners is working exclusively with a highly impressive Venture Capital fund that is looking for an Investment Principal to join its team. The team focuses on Seed to Series B investing in the UK and Europe – primarily life sciences and some biotech. You’ll be part of a small team and have excellent deal exposure from day one and capital to deploy. The Partner is looking for someone who is driven, well-networked and passionate about life sciences VC.

THE ROLE:
  • You will be working across multiple stakeholders, including in partnership with global investors (both industry and financial)

  • You will assist in managing strategic partners in long-term relationships, potentially including LP positions and joint ventures with large investors

  • You have a track record of being a strong negotiator and able to build consensus across various external parties

  • You will lead a detailed review of investment opportunities, leading meetings with founders and academics

  • You demonstrate strategic thinking and can lead detailed financial, industry and competitive analysis, with a good understanding of global sector trends and valuations

  • You will lead the creation and construction of terms for new investment opportunities, leading the process from sourcing to completion, working across the teams that contribute to these activities internally

  • You have experience in building companies from concept onward, including managing several funding rounds as part of a financing strategy

  • You will act as Investor Director in investee companies and be comfortable proactively working with companies to ensure plans are executed

  • You will manage junior members of the investment team

 

THE REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ life sciences investing experience, including in venture investment rounds

  • 3 years’ experience in the role of senior investor for early-stage life sciences companies

  • A strong network in life sciences, with contacts into the wider global investor network, and track record of interacting with companies and investors at the most senior levels

  • Strong professional skills and presence, good written and communication skills

  • Ability to lead deal terms for  while managing numerous stakeholders

  • A high degree of comfort with financial analysis including experience in assessing and modelling valuations for early-stage innovative life sciences companies

  • Domain expertise in global life sciences valuations and returns profiles

  • Proven ability to drive commercial terms for life sciences investments

  • Personal ambition to create an impact in life sciences and to create value for  through creating new investment opportunities and partnerships, proactively assessing new opportunities both internally and externally

  • Entrepreneurial mindset but able to work in a team
