Altus Partners are delighted be partnering with a very well-regarded global private equity fund who are looking to hire a portfolio analyst into their investments team, to perform portfolio and data analytics on the portfolio of investments made across Europe.

The role reports directly into the Head of Portfolio Risk and Analytics. The role is highly analytical, requires a keen eye for detail, automation, and involves preparing outputs for internal stakeholders as well as clients/ prospects.

The team is mainly senior professionals with decades of experience in the industry. This means the candidate will work closely with experts in the field and effectively serve an accelerated apprenticeship in the Private Equity industry.

 

THE ROLE:

  • Become the domain expert for our new portfolio analytics system

  • Help design and build dashboards for investment teams

  • Understand, vet and load relevant data onto the system

  • Produce insightful reporting from the system for the investment committee and deal teams

  • Train investment teams

  • Acting as the ‘right hand’ analyst for our head of portfolio analytics & risk

  • Liaising with investment deal teams as well as operations teams for data gathering and analysis

  • Day to day handling of a range of performance and exposure analyses

  • Understanding, preparing responses to investor queries on portfolio topics

  • Understanding and explaining industry performance metrics

  • Workflow management, ensuring deadlines at met for all periodic and ad-hoc tasks

  •  Work closely with Private Equity investment team, fund accounting team and Investor Relations team

  • Maintain the new portfolio analytics system and maximize its potential

  • Updating a range of periodic reports for internal purposes

  • Preparing sections of reporting for the Portfolio Review Committee

  • Help promote a data-driven culture

 

THE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 years minimum of professional experience in the private equity as a portfolio / data analyst

  • Modelling – intermediate / advanced user of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Salesforce, with a strong aptitude for learning new IT systems

  • Strong analytical skills with prowess for working with high volumes of numerical data and transforming this into information helpful for decision making

  • Report writing skills
